Kyler's Baptism

Kyler was Baptized on September 5, 2009. He was way excited and did a really good job. Russell did a great job with the Baptism and Confirmation also. We are so proud of his decision to get Baptized and become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Doesn't he look so grown up and handsome?

We want to thank all of our family members who were there to support Kyler with this step in his life. We also want to let those family members who weren't able to be there know that we missed them and are grateful for the support that they give to Kyler too!

School Started!

School started and I have three kids in school this year!

Kyler is in 3rd grade and his teacher is Mrs. Jensen. He is riding his bike to and from school this year and is really enjoying it. I think he likes the feeling of independence it gives him. He left before I could get his First Day of School picture, but he looked really handsome and grown up.

Kaylee is in Kindergarten and her teacher is Mrs. Otten. She is going in the afternoons until they get the Kindergarten addition done, which should be within the month, and then she will go in the mornings.

Kenyon has been so excited to be able to go to school too. He had to wear his backpack to take Kaylee to school and pick her up.

Kenyon finally started Preschool today! He goes on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, so when Kaylee switches to mornings I will be down to one kid for three hours, two days a week! After watching Kaylee ride the bus for two years, he was so excited to finally be able to ride it.

I'm so grateful to live in this community with such wonderful schools available for my children. It makes it easier to send them to school when you know the people that are teaching them care for them almost as much as you do!

B'days

August felt like it was just one big Birthday Party, but with three kids' birthdays, four parties, and five cakes I wonder why?

To make things easier on family and myself we decided to do a combined family party for Kaylee and Evelyn.

Here is a picture of Kaylee with her Doll Cake. It didn't turn out like I had pictured but she liked it and it tasted good, so I guess that's all that matters!

Kaylee loved being the center of attention and having everyone sing to her!

I was pretty excited about Evelyn's cake. She has been our best eater, so I figured she would love eating one all by herself and she didn't disappoint.

She really had fun eating and playing with her cake. I thought for sure that she would be sick after eating so much cake, but she was just fine.

Grandma Henningson was nice enough to give Evelyn a bath after she ate her cake. They both enjoyed it.

Kaylee's Birthday

Kaylee turned 5 years old on Sunday, August 16th. She is so excited to be 5, because that means she gets to go to Kindergarten.

We decided to let her invite one friend over for a party on Saturday. Only ONE friend, yes we are so mean! I just couldn't convince myself that I could handle more then two 5 year-old girls running around. She decided to invite Kalli Moss, she lives two blocks down the street and Kaylee has loved playing with her. We let the kids play dress-up and princesses for a while, and I forgot to take pictures. Then we decorated PINK cupcakes with PINK frosting and Skittles. They loved it! Kyler did ask if we had any blue cupcakes or frosting but he was fine with the pink after he tasted it. Kenyon really enjoyed decorating his cupcake and took forever to make sure it was just right.

We got Kaylee a bike for her birthday. I got it up north on the 1st when I was shopping and we kept it it the garage until we gave it to her. Well on the 3rd when Russell was packing to go to Zions, he opened the garage door when Kaylee was with him. She saw her bike and asked if it was for her for her birthday. He told her yes, and she covered her eyes and proceeded to chew Russell out for letting her see it and for not hiding it better. We thought for sure that she would beg for it when they got back, but she didn't say a thing about it. We had to convince her that it was OK for her to ride it on Saturday even though it wasn't really her birthday yet.

Grandma Olsen gave her a pink princess basket, a bell, and handle bar ribbons for it and she loves them. They aren't on it the following pictures but they are on it now.

She had a wonderful birthday, but it isn't over yet. We are going to have a family party for her and Evelyn on Sunday, so she will get her princess cake and more presents. We will post pictures when we can.

Evelyn is Finally Walking!

Evelyn has been taking one or two steps at a time for a few weeks now, but hasn't really made it very far until yesterday.

I love her expression and body language in this picture. You can tell she is so happy with herself!

Here is a video I got of her walking at Grandma Olsen's house. If you turn up the volume you can hear her express her excitement! (We are working on getting the video rotated. Kids

Kenyon takes after me and loves puzzles. We found him this "Handy Manny" puzzle about a week ago and he has put it together at least 50 times.

Kaylee & Kenyon are either "best friends" or "worst enemies". I'm very glad that they aren't the same gender (especially both girls) or we would be in big trouble.

Kyler's Birthday Week

Kyler turned 8 years old on August 4th! He had a really eventful week.

It started with a family party on Monday, August 3rd.

Here is his Solar System Cake. We are lucky that they demoted Pluto to a Dwarf Planet, and that Kyler didn't make me include the Dwarf Planets on the cake, so we could put a candle in each Planet. The words "Happy Birthday!" are supposed to be the asteroid belt, which was Kyler's idea. I thought it turned out pretty good.

Kyler liked it and I guess that's all that really matters!

Thanks to all the family that came and brought him wonderful gifts. He got a really nice set of scriptures from Grandma & Grandpa Slim and Grandma & Grandpa Olie; a Cub Scout shirt, with the patches already sewn on, from Grandma Olsen; some nice books about the Creation and the Earth from Grandma & Grandpa Henningson; a cool Panda Robot from Jay and his family; some coloring supplies from Braxton and his family; some glow in the dark planets and stars and a fun book about outer space from Charlotte & Bryan; and a nice bike lock from Russell & I. He really hit the jackpot this year!

Tuesday thru Thursday he went to Zion's with Russell for the Bybee Family Reunion. See the following post for pictures and info on the fun he had there.

Then Friday night we had a Friend Party for him. He wanted to have a Star and Moon Gazing Party, so we did.


His cake was the Moon, if you can't tell.

We started out by playing games like throw the Comets through the Rings of Saturn, Robot/Moon Rock Relay, and see who can land the Flying Saucer on the Planet. They had a lot of fun running around and throwing things outside!

Then we went inside for Cake & Ice Cream and to open presents.

Jacob Pipes, Kenyon, Noah Mason, Kyler, Matthew Mason, Jay Henningson, and Kaylee.

After the presents we went outside to look at the stars and the moon, but it was too cloudy, so they played with glow sticks and had lots of fun!

Saturday, we stayed home and recovered from the long and eventful week!
