Yeahbut & Rapunzel

Meet our new puppies!!

Rapunzel is a 6 week old female pure breed Yellow Lab.

Yeahbut is a 9 week old female Black Lab mix.

(While growing up, whenever Russell said "yeah, but..." his mother would say "Yeahbut's the name of a dog" because her father always said it to her. When Russell said it to me the first time (a long time ago) I told him that that needs to be the name of our first dog. As parents, we have said "Yeahbut's the name of a dog" to our kids enough that when I said I wanted to name one of the puppies Yeahbut they agreed. They didn't like Notme for the other one, so we named her Rapunzel.)
We have had lots of fun playing with them and watching them play together!

In other news, my leg is slowly getting better.  Just three more weeks and I can start walking on it again!!  I'm looking forward to being able to go outside and play with the kids and the puppies.  I realize that it will take a while until the muscles in my calf are back to normal, but I can't wait to start the process.

Wendy's Spring "Break"

We had a fun Spring Break at our house this year.  It started Monday (March 28) night at 7:43 when I was walking down our sidewalk to my mom's car to go to water aerobics.  When I stepped off the curb I stumbled and fell over.  I immediately knew that it was not good because of the sound and how it felt.  Needless to say it was NOT GOOD!!

Kyler ran in the house and got Russell.  When he saw it he knew that I needed to go to the hospital right away.  He called our neighbor and he helped Russell lift me into the truck and my mom stayed with the kids and we were off to the ER in Gunnison.  The pain wasn't too bad at first but by the time we got to the ER, I was in A LOT of pain!  They took some x-rays and below is the one that shows everything the best.

They were going to control the pain and then send me, by Ambulance, to Provo for surgery,  but after talking to the surgeon they decided it would be better if they reduced my ankle (put it back in place) and send me home for the night so the swelling could go down.  Below is the x-ray they took after they had reduced my ankle and put a temporary cast on it.

We got home at around 11:30pm and I actually slept pretty good, thanks to the meds.
Tuesday, Russell and I headed to Provo for surgery.  Overall it went pretty well.  The following x-rays explain and show what they did to fix me.

We were able to come home Tuesday night which was nice to not have to stay over.

I can't put any weight on it for at least 8 weeks, so right now I'm using my mom's wheelchair to get around.  When it gets feeling a little better and when my pain meds aren't making me dizzy I will start to use crutches.  We have a check-up scheduled for next Wednesday (April 13) where we will find out more info on the time lines for recovery, like when they will remove the screw that goes through both the Tibia and the Fibula (which is the only one they are going to remove).

I'm grateful for Russell and the kids for helping me out so much this past week.  Our family and friends have also been really helpful.

Wish us luck, because the next 3 months are going to be interesting!

FINALLY!

After months of waiting, Kaylee FINALLY lost  not one but two teeth!!

She has been waiting somewhat patiently and was very excited when she realized that she had her first loose tooth.

Monday, Russell was looking at her teeth and realized that her new two front teeth were coming in behind her baby teeth.  Since they were both already loose, he decided to pull them out using his Leatherman.  I was at Water Aerobics with my mom so I missed all of the fun, but the outcome was Kaylee with TWO missing teeth.  She was very excited about it and couldn't wait to go to school the next day to show off.

When Russell sent Kenyon to bed he had to reassure him that he didn't have any loose teeth and wouldn't loose any until he was 6 like Kaylee.  I guess Kenyon was more traumatized by the happenings than Kaylee was!

Snow Day!

On the night of December 20th we received a lot of snow. We got the kids up and were getting them ready for school, when we found out that school had been cancelled because of the snow. The kids were so excited they had to go outside and play in it right away! They all had a blast playing in the snow most of the day.

Christmas Tree 2010

The Saturday after Thanksgiving we went and got our Christmas Tree.  It was a lot warmer than I thought it would be, which is always good.  The kids had a lot of fun playing in the snow while Russell hiked all over looking for the perfect tree.

For Family Home Evening we made Christmas tree  ornaments out of pipe cleaners.  We all had a lot of fun coming up with different things to make.

Russell ended up making glasses for all of the kids,

... and for Blankie Bear too!

The finished product!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Silly Kenyon

Last week at preschool they had an un-birthday party for Kenyon.  He was so excited about it before he went and when he got back.  He understands what birthday's are, so he announced to me that he wasn't 4 any more he was now 5!  It took me two days to convince him that he is still 4 and that it was an "un-birthday" not his real birthday!

Halloween 2010

We started the celebrations by carving pumpkins for FHE on Monday.
We let the kids design their own.

Here are Kenyon's and Kaylee's...

... Evelyn's (A puppy dog, which was designed by Kyler)...

... Kyler's (Kyler carved it too.  It is a face made out of a rocket!) and Russell's & mine.

My mom was so nice and made some of our Halloween costumes this year.

Kaylee wanted to be Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty).  My mom did an INCREDIBLE job on the dress and Kaylee loved it.

It's amazing what my mom can do with a couple of old curtains!

Kyler wanted to be an Astronaut this year, so we ordered some patches online and had my mom make him a Flight Suit.  She even made him a patch with his name on it!

Kenyon wanted to be Handy Manny again this year.  I was worried that when he saw the new costumes my mom made for the others he would feel bad or change his mind, but he didn't.  He loved every minute of being dressed up, and would get really excited when someone called him Handy Manny.

Since Evelyn spends most of her time acting like a puppy dog, we figured she should be one for Halloween.  I think she looked really cute in the costume my mom made for her.

Here we are ready to go trick-or-treating to family and then to the city trunk-or-treat.

THANK YOU Grandma Henningson for the wonderful costumes!
We love you!
